2. Ubel is operating on sight mostly. She can detect the mana on an enchanted cloak, but she physically sees the cloak and thus she envisions it as nothing more than fabric. When she goes against magical barriers she is seeing the device purpose built for defense and can’t cut it. It’s a game of mental associations and she’s kind of psycho so it all works out for her.
