1. Rick was correct! Earlier in the arc, they explained that this island is the original landing spot of the Soyuz astronauts, and would be considered the main village of their descendants. After Byakuya died and years passed, some adventuring types decided to make the pilgrimage to mainland Japan, most likely due to resources being limited on the island, but also because of all the stories Byakuya had told through the Hundred Tales. Those that made the pilgrimage settled in what is now Ishigami village. Both islands are descendants of the astronauts, but since so much time has passed, being engrossed in different lands, eventually the two peoples deviated in culture and customs, like what would happen in real life.

   I do want to say though that Aaron wouldn’t necessarily be wrong about the dude who talked to us earlier, possibly also being a descendant of the Soyuz crew. Since we have no information on the couple that originally left to find medicine, it could be possible that there are other tribes descended from the astronauts that might not even know about the hundred tales, considering that couple left before Byakuya was able to pass all of those stories down. Or like Aaron said, it could be from a people who broke out of the stone long before Senku and gang did. We really just don’t know at this point, and I love that!
