1. That’s the point of the flashback, to show you that while a lot of demons were humans with sad lives. Some, especially the upper moons, may not have anything redeeming about them at all. Hantengu was a piece of shit his whole human life and demon life.

2. I kinda love what they did with the demons this season. We don’t get any backstory on fish-man cause he ended up being a blowhard who didn’t matter in the end. Then for “weakling” we get more proof he was always selfish and cowardly. Using his circumstance as an excuse to victimize others. Nice way to flip expectations and plant seeds for the remaining kizuki to be even worse. Also more proof that Muzan really does love enabling the worst aspects of humanity for his own benefit. Solid season. Can’t wait for more. Haven’t read the manga but I’ve heard things will get WILD soon and I’m not entirely ready!
