   For the most part, as long as you’re not disparaging the product and its plot relevant, you can get away with brand names things under fair use. If you’ve ever seen the live action Josie and the Pussy Cats, they didn’t pay for/get permission for any of the brands that were used in that movie (which is almost every brand). Also the movie from this year “Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie” (which you guys should react to someday) also gets away with using movie clips from other movies without permission.

   The main reason you see fake/off brand looking products in TV/movies is because they don’t want to give the product free advertising.
