What is the truth surrounding Hal Jordan?

  1. I think he’s dead, but we’ll see plenty of him through flashbacks. The focus seems to be on mentors and mentees so I think that relationship can be more impactful if it has a definite end.

BTW the guy who shot an apple off his son’s head was William Tell, he did it with a crossbow.

  2. They talked about Hal-ograms, alien species with the tech to pass as humans and if that’s possible making a facsimile is certainly possible, and I’m guessing the story structure they used in episode 1 will continue, just in different amounts each episode: Background about John and/or Hal’s earlier life, the training where Hal keeps investigating the ‘hail’ and the fear-driven Macon and sheriff are impacting things, and finally an investigation to the apparent, and certainly not permanent if it is his body, death of Hal Jordan [he’s still alive in our hearts and spiritually as any fictional character kicking around doing stuff].

A man doesn’t truly die until he’s forgotten after all.

  3. i believe he is dead but not for good. considering the multiple storylines i can see a version they’re doing here but also it could just be that they want to move forward with john as our serious green lantern for future storylines

  4. I think Hal is dead, and you can take your pick for any reason why. Mine is that Hal has been predominately the favorite GL in every medium for YEARS, and I’m so much more interested in the DCU’s unconventional way of laying their new foundation rather than just a lazy MCU copy including another young Hal focus.

  5. Hal’s definitely dead, I don’t think you do a decade long jump just for a fake out death. I think we can gather a lot of info from Hal’s place of death, he’s most likely sending a message to John by sitting in the same exact spot he sat 10 years ago. He’s wearing casual attire, and he didn’t die fighting or struggling. Which to me all indicates Hal knew he was going to die, and chose not to fight for some reason. Which is a good thing cuz that means the ring wasn’t taken, Hal probably left it somewhere that John would be able to find himself. As to why he didn’t just tell John he knew he was gonna die, we already have the answer for that. Hal tests John by putting him into hard situations, the first time was with the car, and the second time was flying off to Nebraska. This is just another one of Hal’s tests, if John is worthy of being the next Green Lantern, he’ll be able to figure out who killed Hal, where Hal hid the ring, and how to take down whoever is responsible for Hal’s death.

  6. I think Hal’s dead. It makes for a pretty interesting show having John try to solve two serious Green Lantern-related problems (why aliens are near Hal’s ring bestowment in 2016 and how Hal kicked the bucket in 2026), while relatively ringless. Maybe we’ll eventually get some (animated?) stories of this Hal’s past 40 years, but I think Hal’s gone. I am admittedly excited to have my childhood favorite non-Batman superhero in John Stewart lead (presumably) from here on out.

  7. I am from a small town in Nebraska, and I immediately started to get discouraged about the look of Rushville lol. Clearly a California “Nebraska” if you know what I mean. I didn’t see one run down barn or building. everything was to pretty and rich looking. and a full-length football field?!?!?!? 8 or 6 man football at best!

  8. So since we see what we assume is a dead dead Hal in 2026 I’d be kinda sad if we just get to see Hal Jordon first ever Earth green lantern only in Flashbacks of this show, like I’d love to see him in the Justice League with Superman and Batman, then we have John and Guy off planet doing other Lantern work and Hal and John just swap sometimes like in the animated movies or even animated show like I’ll be sad if this show is all we get of Hal Jordon he’s a big name in DC regardless of how many lanterns there are in the DC universe
