David’s last name, according to him, is pronounced like “Dah-SMALL-chin” because he said to just think of it like saying, “Look at that guy with da small chin.” 😆 I believe he said it on his first appearance on Fatman Beyond. He’s a big comic book geek, as you can tell. He also made a couple of appearances on The Flash TV show.

4. The reason they switched Dorry and Broggy getting poisoned is that Usopp had a bigger connection with Broggy, and this is Usopp’s big moment of character development.

1. The other, funnier reason that the switch happened is that it means that thanks to the Live Action they are now tied again. Each one has officially had a loss.

5. Seconding what someone said about the Dorry/Broggy switch – I think it’s clearly because they were using they used the giant story mainly as a hook for Usopp character growth.

   If folks enjoy David Dastmalchian – quick plug for his role in the “Murderbot” tv series. It’s a very fun show that I’d love to see more reactions on.

7. Idk if these guys read these but the actor for Mr 3 is big fan of one piece and was hoping to join the cast :). There’s another actress who’s a big fan of the show and was planning to to be a certain character this season but due to scheduling conflicts with her other projects she couldn’t make it happen. 🙂

1. David had not seen any one piece prior to getting the role but his son was a big fan, yonda thomas who played igaram and daniel lasker who plays mr.9 were fans who had seen the anime before.

9. I think the reason they change the giant that get blasted from the inside is because Broggy is the one that interact with Ussop, and this arc is a lot about him finding his motivation, that it feel more personal.

19. David Dastmalchian is apparently a One Piece fan. As a lot of the cast, honestly. David’s son was a big fan and basically roped David into it. So he was pretty excited when he got the call to be in this adaptation.
    Needless to say, I love him in this. I keep watching behind the scenes stuff and I can’t help but smile at all of the thought and passion everyone put into making this adaptation.

20. Yeah, Luffy perspective on fighting is pretty loose, but he does get serious about trying to get better eventually. (Also my favorite arc, also the arc Rick stopped on.)

21. There’s a video on youtube where they show the sets, and you would be surprised how much of it is practical, like for the giant scenes they had made two sets, one where everything is small to film giants and exact replica with everything big for the strawhats. It’s amazing.
