2. Yeah, the writing is the weakest part of this show for sure they don’t seem to always understand the characters, but this is still the greatest live action anime adaptation ever and I love it!

1. Agreed, it gives off the vibe of someone who directed and wrote it not knowing the story well and only glanced through the pages. It still shows love and respect for the franchise but not in a way they know the full reason why this manga is #1.

1. Every decision regarding this adaptation is approved by Oda. Whether it’s casting, plot details, or changes. He’s even said himself that he likes the changes made in the live-action series (e.g., Luffy’s song for Laboon)
   So the portrayal of the characters should be pretty good if the manga’s creator has no objections. It all fits into the live-action adaptation. Of course, it’s not possible to adapt a manga 1:1. To accuse the writers of not understanding the characters when Oda himself is involved strikes me as an absurd point of view.

4. Never noticed them framing the sun behind Luffy so often until Eric pointed it out, very nice detail

5. Believe it or not, the village was fully built in South Africa! One of the behind the scenes episodes on Netflix shows what went into creating these incredible sets in each episode

8. Shame we couldn’t get Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr Kureha. Saw that interview where she was with David Dastmalchian where she talked about how upset she was that she couldn’t be apart of the show like Rick mentioned

1. I looked up Katey Sagal after they brought her up. And eventually, saw a short interview about One Piece, and thought she may have been the person I remembered being interested in the role and being friendly/friends with Chopper’s English VA. But realized it was Jamie Lee Curtis when Rick brought it up.
