1. I think it’s worth reflecting on the fact that Reinhard *has* failed. This season in fact, when he killed Wrath and killed all her victims at once, including his friend. I think he’s rather indelicate and can’t make full use of his abilities to resolve situations; he’s essentially granted the solution to any problem to sustain himself, but he’s so used to everything being effortless for him that he doesn’t consider the consequences of flippantly attacking. But maybe that’s putting it harshly, and rather he also is too humble to the point of not acting as if he is inherently “better” than others when he should use that advantage.

   IMO, it’s rather neat how he has to rely on Subaru against Greed because he’s not adjusted to strategizing. To me he’s a rather interesting complication of the perfect Mary Sue/Gary Stu because he’s outwardly without weakness, and yet his personality and carelessness result in imperfect victories. Even such as Elsa in S1, where he so clearly outclassed her but didn’t follow through and let her get away. I don’t think he can be “defeated,” but he can mess up.

1. Definitely. It’s kind of like Greed implied, he doesn’t have “the brains”, especially when dealing with outliers like the Sin Archbishops.
