That end hit like a truck…

Alright to be clear. We did see both greed and A gluttony back at the start of season 2. As well as gluttony eating rems name and memory. Not the whale.

The way it was explained by puck is he can eat names or memory or both. How is unknown beyond what you saw here. He eats name you vanish from history. All ties to who you were vanish and all things you owned no longer are there to the extent that they would mark your existence as having ever been there. Reality shifts to remove your past.
If your memory is eaten thats self explanatory.

If both are eaten you become an empty shell like rem.

Julius knew subarus name. So he only had his name eaten.

The “Staff” needs a ton of mana to activate and essentially gathers all light and compresses it into a beam. Much weaker at night like this. It also seems like you forgot Bettys mother is echidna the witch of greed. She made that staff so infer what you want from that. She essentially made it as a toy to annoy a certain dragon with.

Geuse the former archbishop of sloth didnt just go crazy from killing fortuna the love of his life. But also because he absorbed the witch factor of sloth despite being incompatible with it. Its not stated why exactly but it can be heavily inferred that because he was insanely diligent and hard working for a humanoid spirit something like sloth was horribly ill suited for him.
Leading to his obsession with sloth. So a “Slave” to it like eric said only hating it instead of worshipping it in insanity. Likely also why it was so much weaker.

While someone like greed couldnt have been more made for the greed factor and got about as much as the normal person could expect out of it. Clearly it has SOME influence still towards that sin even for someone compatible like Greed though how much is hard to say since you dont know what he was like before getting it.

“No one coughs up blood like Gaston!” is so funny

The gut punching continues, lol.
