Yea this is one of the very few cases where her design is 100% intentionally done that way. She makes herself look that way for the expressed point of being uncomfortable. As she can look anyway she wants to, given like another comment said, the original human would be very old. It’s also just an anime thing that you kind of have to just get over or don’t watch lol
Lust as they mentioned was possibly a royal. So not only would she be over 50 but she was also a grown woman. Meaning that she chooses to look that way on purpose. To her the body is just a tool to fuck with people.
What she looks like barely matters because she can look like anything and its all just to mess with you.
As for others i mean Subaru is overtly into older women and sees Beako as his little sister VEHEMENTLY against anything weird with her.
Japanese people just dont have the same hangups as alot of americans So you kinda just have to reorient to not let your own personal feelings distract from whats actually going on. Especially in this case where it DOES have meaning and purpose and isnt just for being creepy.
Capella is heeere! Absolutely love Brittany Lauda’s performance as her. Terrifying voice that immediately made me interested in her. Her appearance this episode and her philosophy just made her my favorite villain. Love how teasing, jokey she is and is all in all living her best life as the Sin Archbishop of Lust.
Lust weirds me out too. I think it walks the line well enough, cause her mindset/the intention is to make people feel disturbed, but it can’t really be much worse without breaking the boundaries of what can reasonably be displayed on television. So cause of that, I guess I just accept it and the creeps I get when watching it. And the loli joke stuff is pretty cringe to me, and, well, most people, given the connotation of how… weird people can get with that crap, but even though Beako is just cute and never sexualized in any way, and even though it’s interesting that she was originally made as a young girl, and just stayed that personality-wise, barely interacting with anyone for hundreds of years, only gaining more knowledge on magic and whatnot (mostly through the library), it can still easily leave a sour taste in your mouth. It’s a shame, really, because the ideas are very interesting (and sometimes adorable lol), and I also feel like some people don’t make characters like that because they are afraid that they’ll be seen as weird. Again, just a shame it has to be like that, really.
